Summary

The nutrient requirement for the high performance dairy cows is not met in many farms currently due to the low protein content in commercial dairy feeds and the huge loss of protein in rumen. The reason of protein loss in rumen comes from the use of untreated ingredients in complete feed production. Therefore, study on the treated methods for the raw feed ingredients in order to increase the bypass protein is needed. The experiment with Latin square design was used to assess the effects of diets containing heat treated soybean meals (1250C in 90 and 120 minutes) and groundnut meals (1250C in 90 minutes and 1400C in 30 minutes) to the milk yield and quality of 4 dairy cows in 45 days. The F2 HF cows in the 3rd month of milk production of the 3-4th lactation were used. The protein and energy contents of diets were formulated according to the NRC 2001 for dairy cows. The results indicated that there was no difference in the milk yield and quality of the dairy cows fed with diet containing treated soybean meals. The similar result was also observed in those fed with diet containing treated groundnut meals. However, the milk yield and fat content of the dairy cows fed with diet containing treated soybean meals were higher than those of the dairy cows fed with diets containing treated groundnut meals.
