SUMMARY

V-118, a maize single cross developed by Institute of Agricultural Science for Southern Vietnam. Performance of the cross has shown it’s promising stability yield. In intensive farming condition this cross could yield up to 10 tons  per hectare. On farmer fields, V-118 gave yield from 7 – 8 ton per hectare. The cross matures in 87 – 92 days after planting. This cross possesses good tolerance to lodging, moderate resistance to Ostrinia funacalis and Rhizotonia Solani. In production fields, V-118 has shown yield almost equivalent to two prominent early hybrids G49 and C.919, better than that of CP-888. V-118 can be cultivated in three croppings around the year in Southern parts of Vietnam: Summer – Autumn, Autumn – Winter and Winter – Spring.

Key words: Single cross, stabilitity.
