Japan Remains a Key GM Product Import Market

The Government of Japan has approved a total of 334 genetically modified products for food use as of September 2024. This is according to the latest USDA Foreign Agricultural Service report about the status of agricultural biotechnology in Japan. Japan continues to be a major importer of GM food and feed, sourcing mostly from the US. Other major exporters include Canada, Brazil, and Argentina.
