This agreement will focus on strengthening collaboration on sustainable agriculture and biodiversity conservation that will shape resilient food systems.

The strategic collaboration between the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and CGIAR brings together complementary expertise. CGIAR advances science and innovation for transforming food, land, and water systems, while IUCN provides global overview and leadership on biodiversity and measures for conservation.

Both organizations will come together on areas including multifunctional landscapessustainable farmingsustainable animal and aquatic foodsclimate adaptation and water management, as well as nature-positive approaches to agriculture.

The collaboration will also support science-based policy guidance to help countries and local communities address complex and interconnected challenges. We will work to promote locally relevant solutions with a shared emphasis on scaling for impact on food security, livelihoods and advancing gender equality and inclusion.

By combining synergies in research, policy engagement and implementation experience, IUCN and CGIAR aim to support integrated approaches in pursuit of a food-secure future that leaves no one behind.
